Job Description
This newly created position within the Advancement Division manages all aspects, including ongoing implementation, assessment, programming, development and support of the International Baccalaureate’s new Virtual Community, a platform aiming to provide communication, collaboration and social networking tools for more than 2 million IB stakeholders such as students, alumni, educators and professional development providers.

Working closely with the Head of Virtual Communities, the project manager, and the Digital Space Working and Steering Groups, the Virtual Community Manager will first manage the implementation of the IB’s first Virtual Community from its “beta” to “live” launch. S/He will be responsible for the creation and ongoing management of the assessment and support frameworks for the IB Virtual Community and will plan and implement ongoing community programmatic and development initiatives. The role will involve coordinating beta-testing, managing digital space project team members to create accounts and support stakeholder testers from all the Virtual Community roles (educators, alumni, students and Professional Development Providers). It will include the oversight of and management of key volunteers.

This role has strong links to multiple areas of the organization to support the larger organizational aims of engaging with stakeholder groups for different aims. S/He is expected to respond to the business needs of the various relevant departments in the Academic Office, Schools Division, and Advancement divisions while working closely with IT and Communications.


Requirements
• A Bachelor’s degree and/or a combination of experience, education, and training that would provide the level of knowledge and ability required for the position

• Significant academic technology and/or social media experience

• Significant experience related to social networking and online community participation

• Solid understanding of the value of instructional technology, social learning and networking tools as well as digital and information literacies for the 21st century global citizen

• Evidence of refined project management, consultation, facilitation, communication and presentation skills

• Strong technical and media literacy skills

• Ability to work effectively with associates/team members at a distance

• Ability to manage and coordinate a number of high-level volunteers

• Ability to work effectively with many constituencies in a non-profit, educational environment

• Excellent oral and written communications skills

• The ability to work at a high level in English is essential
